Lae & Jules is a story of love, legacy, and creative devotion; a daughter’s tribute to her mother, whose quiet encouragement continues to inspire every detail.
It began in a small town in Cameroon, where Julie, lovingly called Jules, sang in her church choir. Her young daughter, Lady (Lae), often accompanied her, full of restless curiosity. To keep her occupied, Jules handed her a notebook and a pencil, the first tools of her creative journey. What started as a simple distraction soon revealed a lasting passion.
As Lae grew, her drawings evolved into a fascination with fashion and form. She designed pieces for herself and her mother, who wore them with pride. Though their styles differed, one thing united them – a shared love for handbags. When Lae once purchased a bag that disappointed her, Jules said softly, “It would be exactly what you want if you designed it yourself.” Those words would become a lifelong reminder; and the seed of a legacy.
Years later, living in Norway, Lae often sent her mother handbags – tokens of affection and connection across distance. In 2020, Jules fell ill. Despite every effort, she passed away two years later. Among the things she never received was a leather handbag and a handwritten letter enclosed in an envelope Lae meant to send to her. Weeks after the funeral, Lae found herself looking at the envelope, now a symbol of love, loss, and memory. Its elegant shape inspired her first design, Letter to Mama, the piece that marked the beginning of Lae & Jules.
Born from emotion and defined by craftsmanship, Lae & Jules celebrates timeless design and enduring quality. Each piece honours a bond that transcends time – created to accompany the moments that matter most.

Every Lae & Jules bag begins with an original idea — where creativity and functionality are thoughtfully balanced. No leather is cut until the design is perfect.
The Sketch
Every design begins with detailed paper sketches that capture both the aesthetic vision and practical features. Dimensions, proportions, and functionality are all considered before a single material is touched.
Paper Sample
Once dimensions are defined, paper samples are crafted at the factory to match the exact specifications. These prototypes allow for precise adjustments — ensuring the design is perfected before any leather is cut.
Final Product
Only when the proportions are accurate and all refinements complete does the leather cutting begin. The result is a piece that reflects authentic creativity while honouring a mindful use of materials.
