In 2020, Lae’s mother Jules fell ill. She passed away two years later. Weeks after the funeral, Lae found herself looking at an unopened envelope — a leather bag and a handwritten letter that had never made the journey from Norway to Cameroon.
That envelope — its elegant shape, its weight of memory — became the first Lae & Jules design. Letters to Mamma is not just a collection. It is a tribute. Every piece carries the silhouette of that unopened letter and the emotion of everything it contained.

The defining characteristic of every Letters to Mamma piece is its envelope shape — a clean, folded front flap that echoes the form of the letter that inspired it. The silhouette is minimal by intention, allowing the leather’s texture and colour to speak.
Each piece is constructed from full-grain Italian calfskin, vegetable-tanned for durability and character. The hidden magnetic closure keeps the exterior line unbroken. Gold-tone hardware throughout.
